Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What services do you offer?
We provide CAD Design & Drafting, CNC Waterjet Cutting, and MIG Welding for prototype, custom, and production projects.
What materials can you cut?
We cut carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, plastics, rubber, glass, stone, composites, and many other materials.
What is the maximum size and weight you can cut?
Our CNC waterjet features a 5 ft × 10 ft cutting table. Material handling is currently limited to 2 tonnes (4,400 lb) due to our overhead crane capacity.
Does waterjet cutting create heat distortion?
No. Waterjet cutting is a cold cutting process, meaning there is no heat-affected zone (HAZ), warping, material hardening, or distortion.
Do you offer different cut quality options?
Yes. We offer five different edge-finish options, allowing you to choose the right balance between speed, edge quality, and cost for your application.
What file formats do you accept?
We accept DXF, DWG, STEP, PDF, and many other common CAD file formats. If you do not have a drawing, we can create one for you.
What CAD software do you use?
We primarily use SolidWorks and AutoCAD for mechanical design and drafting, and can provide files in STEP, DWG, DXF, PDF, and other manufacturing-ready formats.
Can you provide manufacturing-ready files?
Yes. We can provide STEP, DWG, DXF, PDF, and other file formats suitable for CNC manufacturing, future revisions, or customer documentation.
Do you offer on-site measurements?
Yes. We can visit your location to take measurements before fabrication. Additional travel charges may apply depending on the project location.
What type of welding do you offer?
We specialize in MIG welding for carbon steel and stainless steel, including structural components, handrails, frames, brackets, custom jigs, fixtures, repair work, and custom fabricated assemblies.
Do I need a CAD drawing to request a quote?
No. Send us a sketch, PDF, photo, or sample along with any available dimensions. We can create the required CAD files and prepare the design for manufacturing.
Can you manufacture prototypes and production runs?
Yes. We manufacture everything from one-off custom parts and prototypes to small and large production runs.
Can you help improve my design before manufacturing?
Yes. We can review your design and recommend practical improvements to simplify manufacturing, reduce material waste, lower production costs, and improve overall efficiency.
How do I request a quote?
Use our Request a Quote page or email your drawing, sketch, or sample to info@mmef.net. Include the material, thickness, quantity, and any special requirements.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Edmonton, Nisku, Leduc, and surrounding Alberta communities, and can manufacture and ship parts throughout Canada.
